During the Civil War, Sherman’s General, Garrard, burned the mill and shipped the workers (more that 400 workers) north to interrupt them from resuming work if the factory was rebuilt. The Roswell Mill was rebuilt after the war. The City of Roswell was ceded to Fulton County from Cobb County in 1931, due to the economic difficulties of that time period. Currently, it is approximately 38 square miles.
